Q:How is this text similar or different to other things you have read?
The story is similar to the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan as both involve having gods and a son who holds power that could cause danger. In the Sage of Theare and the Percy Jackson series both focus on the half-blooded child of a god who unknowingly causes trouble to another world. The Great Zond is the supreme leader of the gods who control the events and happenings, just like Zeus. Although Jones does not specify the origin of the gods, the hierarchy and representation of them seen to have strong Greek influences that are prevalent in the Riordan’s series. Further more, Imperion has a child named Thasper who becomes the ‘Sage of Desolation behind a prophecy. Instead of raising him, he moves him to another world and Thasper ultimately becomes oblivious of being the Sage once taken interest to the character. Similarly, Percy is initially unaware of being the son of Poseidon and gradually realises he has the ability to move water. Through comparing each story, there is a common focus and setting revolving around this idea of hidden abilities. Conclusively, both stories have similar influences and allows me to predict what was the next event.
