Personally, I feel that reading is a great tool to be able to gain knowledge, spark fantasies or ideas and allow us to become more aware of what is happening in the world around us. Although I support the many benefits of reading, I don't read novels or thick books that often because I recognise myself as a visual learner and therefore enjoy drawing or doing more graphic activities during my free time. Aside this, when I do choose to read, I select those which provide statistical data, are non-fictional or give realistic elements in areas such as in its setting. Every week I leisurely read magazines or comics twice a week and read the news or interesting articles almost every morning online on my phone after waking up or on the way to school. When reading, I like to particularly buy and read graphic novels or magazines. I usually opt towards reading magazines such as the TIMES, BBC Knowledge or Mental Floss because these provide a reading experience with a mixture of lifestyle-related, scientific or just non-ficitional topics. This makes me deeper acknowledge what I am reading as it is based on real life and may impact me personally or my environment. Further more, I also am fond of graphic novels or comics as they visually appeal me with the use of vibrant colours and are supported with ideas of fantasy or sci-fi. During this past year, I have enjoyed reading novels like 'My Family and Other Animals' by Gerald Durrell and 'Z for Zachariah' by Robert C. O'Brien. In conclusion, this year I aim to further expand the genres of books I read, find a favourite author or specific series and generally read more regularly.
