IDIOMATIC LANGUAGE
Explain how your past experiences may have impacted on the idioms you use in everyday English.
AlthoughI don't use idioms that often when casually speaking, some idioms that I do commonly use include, “piece of cake”, “ speak of the devil”, “couch potato” and “give it a shot”. I have picked up most of these short phrases or sayings through the types of English entertainment that I watch and hear or even just my general exposure to internet trends on a daily basis, this has caused me to build on the way or style I communicate in English by adding some of these lyrics or words said by characters. Further more, I think that gradually over time I do become familiar with a growing number idioms by settling in different environments and meeting new people who are comfortable with certain references/saying in these places based on past experiences, thus impacting the idioms I use in my everyday English and my view on using such figurative language.
